How can we be certain there is life on the other side?

Dear D.R.,
This is a question that has been pondered by many. There are those who claim to communicate with the deceased. Some people who have near death experiences say they have seen relatives who have passed and have had a euphoric experience unlike any on this earth. All may be true, but without scientific evidence, we have to rely on our faith and beliefs that there is life after death, as we perceive it. Some of us have been fortunate enough to have relatives who have passed, contact us or leave us signs that they are around. Angels and messages from deceased loved ones have been recorded and mentioned in all religions throughout the ages. All cultures from the earliest of times refer to a life beyond this one.
Based on my personal experiences, I strongly believe in a life hereafter. The day before my mother passed, my siblings and I were around her bedside. She was very lucid and in the middle of our conversation with her, she stopped and said, “listen.” “Don’t you hear that? It’s beautiful!” When we said, “hear what?” she again said “listen” and commenced to sing a popular hymn. When she finished, she explained to us, “It was like an angelic choir. It was so beautiful. I have never heard anything like it before.” The next day she passed. I believe she did hear that choir of angels, and it was letting her know it was a beautiful place she was going to.
Loved ones that have passed and our personal guides leave us messages all of the time, we just have to be aware of them. So if you see a penny and/or dime on the ground, pick it up and know it is probably a message from a loved one.
